The daily game is tough. There are no re-spins, no choice of formation, and you’re doing everything without the handy dandy red or blue numbers that let you know whether you should be selecting that player or are making a big mistake. As a result, I consider anything over 50 points and a championship to be God Tier.

Alright, enough of that (at least until tomorrow’s game). I’m working on pieces about Ashley Sanchez as well as college woso. The return of the college season snuck up on me but has been back in a major and absurd way, so I’m spotlighting a few players I’ll be paying attention to throughout the season.

Ally Sentnor has been heavily criticized for multiple seasons now, and though long distance goals add .27 percent to my life expectancy, even I’ve had to admit that her shooting compulsion is a problem. However, it’s not only her problem.

This is a wild update. It’s not unsurprising that a team with poor results would yeet its manager. It’s wild because I’m not sure why ownership and the front office thought their unseriousness would blend well with ex-Norway unseriousness and magically work. Unserious entities don’t cancel each other out, they multiply the unseriousness. That’s basic math.

Anyway, the wildest part of the update is the Tsars showing some humility and bringing back Lorne Donaldson, this time in a different role. Apparently players advocated for his return, which is the most unsurprising thing about this entire ordeal. Him agreeing to come back to Chicago, however, is very surprising.

…Lorne is a better person than me.

Between this and Victory+ I’m starting to think our Steward of Capital doesn’t know what she’s doing.

(Also I’ve been absolutely howling about these quotes from the Maintenance Phase podcast while they were taste testing Unwell drinks. ‘Prison wine vibe’ brought me to my knees.)
