Song: ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’ -Gil Scott-Heron
Howdy,
Oh, you thought woso would just quietly step aside for the men’s World Cup? You sweet summer child. Before any of that goes down, shit is about to get really real across international friendlies and various World Cup Qualification tournaments. In fact, if you’re reading at the time of posting, get yourself to Golazo Network for Germany vs. Unserious Ass Norway, and at 3pm ET it’s Spain v. England on CBS Sports Network.
Later tonight the CONMEBOL Nations League gets underway with some tasty ones, including The Child, Claudia Martínez, versus Colombia. There’s no reprieve in friendly competitions either. The USWNT and Brazil play twice this week, as will Japan/South Africa and Mexico/Australia. We’re blessed (well, only kinda, watching some of these might require a VPN or some form of yarrgh’ery).
This was a hectic week at the 9-5 with me being sent to a conference and having to talk to be a real human who exists outside of email inboxes. I’m back now, and looking to drop some more pieces on things I found fascinating from the first third of the NWSL season. I’m also hoping to have a few surprises across the pods during the break. There’ll be much more to come over the next month or so as I attempt to #activate #adjacently and do my part to #evangelize within my #ecosystem.
Anyway, onto a thing I wrote, a pod I recorded, your woso to watch, and Hal Hershfelt teaching us about ranked choice voting.
stuff i wrote…
A third of the season is gone, and as we enter a month-long break, the final weekend’s games leaned heavily into several #narratives: Utah are cookin, the Spirit love getting in their own way (and then digging themselves out), Rahsing’s magic formula is missing its ingredients, and Chicago remain a hot ass mess.
That and more on every game from the weekend.
