‘Right in Two’ -Tool
Four games to go in the NWSL regular season and the table is packed tighter than my suitcase before a domestic trip of any kind. Leave me alone, I like options.
Anyway, expect lots of shuffling because even teams out of the playoffs are still capable of snatching points from anybody, just to be big ol’ meanies. However, we are also blessed with some direct matchups between teams who desperately need points.

Wavé can clinch a playoff spot with a win (or a draw and some help. Orlando can’t be mathematically eliminated with a loss, but would get very close to it if their point total remains stationary for another week.
The major playoff scrap is the late night kickoff. Reign are in the last playoff spot, one point ahead of North Carolina (even though the Courage hold a +10 GD to Seattle’s +2).
The Courage’s goal differential is spooky for anyone hoping to scrap their way into the playoffs. They and Angel City are the only teams outside of the top-3 with a double digit goal difference.

Loovull are already eliminated but can put the Royals in a whole lot of trouble if they take points. Utah is currently in the last spot for a home playoff game (4th) but the two teams below can jump them with a dub if they stand still.
Similar scenario as above. Bay are out of the playoff hunt while Kansas City are scrapping to stay in it. Last weekend’s blasting of Denver gave them a major boost, which would be completely exploded if they dropped points to Bay.
Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V - Boston are out of the playoff picture, Portland are currently within two points of jumping into the top 4. Even if Utah wins to keep them fifth, a win still keeps that hope alive and puts pressure on Utah and Washington until the end of the season.

The major matchup of the week is Gotham vs. Angel City. The Real ACFC have been on an absurd run over the last eleven games (5W-5D-1L). Their record over the last six is even better, 5W-1D-0L.
An Angel City win would put them in position to scrap for top 4, but a loss could drop them back into the pack fighting to make it into the playoffs at all.
Gotham have clinched a playoff spot and are six points ahead of San Diego below them. A loss wouldn’t change a whole lot for them, but a point or three would bring the NWSL Shield close enough to see their reflection.
Chicago is out of the playoff spots but Denver needs to recover from what happened to them last weekend (4-1 L to Kansas City). If Denver wants to keep their hopes alive of getting involved in the playoff race they only need to beat the worst team in the league. Shouldn’t be too hard, right?
Houston are an L away from being eliminated from playoff contention, but it’s Washington who has all the pressure in this one. The Spirit need three points to avoid falling out of the top 4, and need goals to prove to themselves (and everyone else) that they still remember how to score them.
