WAFCON is finally upon us! How Glorious and delightful. You can watch it all with beIN Sports, and there’s a couple ways to do that. It should be available through YouTube TV, and Sling TV as well. Fubo TV has it too, which offers a useless one-day free trial in which they then want you to sign up for a +$50/mo plan. Ignore that noise. If you decline that option you should be able to subscribe to smaller, more limited packages, with one being for beIN Sports.

Either way, set those cancellation reminders and dive in, it’s gonna be a fun tournament. If you’re a Spirit fan, or just inclined to see more African talent joining the NWSL, you’ll want to pay attention Cameroon (Monique Ngock), Burkina Faso (Alimata Bélem), and Algeria (Mélissa Bethi). I, for one, will be locked tf in.

The weekend featured three of Saturday’s six games being impacted by weather delays. The first scheduled match of the day was Gotham vs. Reign on ABC, which missed its window entirely due to intense storms and lighting. It’s a shame, it was a banger.

Anywhomst, the weekend slate featured six goals scored after the 86th minute across all games (with multiple goals hitting the net in stoppage time), at least three shrosses, Croix Bethune magic, an absurd defensive performance from Utah, and a hell of a lot more.

We'd been wanting to do a ‘Spirit History’ episode and realized that means we need to interview Tori Huster, so we did. We talked about the Maryland SoccerPlex days and the remarkable/remarkably devastating 2021 season, and how the Spirit you know now doesn't exist without those players doing what they did.
